Inferis company — measured learning space

· our story

A school that does not rush its learners

Inferis was built around the idea that understanding AI topics takes time — and that time spent reading carefully is rarely wasted.

01 — about

How Inferis came to be

Inferis was founded in Kota Kinabalu in early 2023 by a small group of people who had spent years working in data and software roles across Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia. What they noticed, speaking to colleagues and younger learners, was a recurring difficulty: most available AI courses moved too fast, assumed too much, or relied heavily on video content that could not easily be paused and re-read.

The name Inferis comes from the idea of slow inference — the deliberate, step-by-step process by which a model (or a person) draws conclusions from evidence. That measured quality is something we try to build into everything we offer.

The programmes at Inferis are structured around written material. Readings are short enough to be completed in a single sitting but dense enough to reward re-reading. Reflection prompts ask learners to put ideas into their own words. Written exercises are returned with tutor notes, not automated scores.

Our longest programme — the Patient Path — runs for nine months and is designed so that no single month feels overwhelming. Topics are layered intentionally: early months build vocabulary and context, middle months introduce practical methods, and later months connect ideas into a coherent picture of how modern AI systems are constructed and where they fit in the world.

We are a small team. Tutors who review your work are practitioners, not administrators. When we say feedback will be thoughtful, we mean that the person reading your exercise has done similar work themselves.

Inferis does not provide formal qualifications or accreditation. What learners take away is a body of written work they produced themselves, an understanding they built at their own pace, and — for those who complete the nine-month programme — a portfolio that reflects the full arc of that effort.

How we approach quality in online learning

Written curriculum review

All programme readings are reviewed and updated at least twice a year to reflect developments in the field. Outdated references are replaced before each new intake.

Personal tutor responses

Every written exercise submission receives a handwritten response from a named tutor, not an automated rubric. Turnaround is within five working days.

Learner data privacy

Enrolment and coursework data is stored securely and not shared with third parties. We align with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

Milestone-based structure

Longer programmes use monthly milestones with defined scope so learners always have a clear sense of what they are working toward and how much remains.

Accessible support

Questions can be submitted by email at any stage of a programme. We aim to respond within two working days for general queries, five for exercise feedback.

Honest scope of study

We describe clearly what each programme covers and what it does not. There are no claims about accreditation or career outcomes — only a clear account of the learning experience.

04 — approach

AI study that fits around your life in Malaysia

Online AI education in Malaysia has expanded rapidly, but much of it is built around video lectures, timed assessments, and completion badges. Inferis takes a different position. Our programmes are text-led because reading and writing are among the most durable ways to internalise new ideas — they slow you down enough to notice what you do not yet understand.

Based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, we serve learners across Malaysia who want to develop a real working knowledge of AI topics without committing to a rigid schedule. Our reading course is suitable for someone curious about the field with no technical background. The Practical Foundations Cohort brings that curiosity into contact with Python and notebook tools in a way that remains manageable week by week. The nine-month Patient Path Programme is for those who want a thorough, layered education in modern AI development — at the pace that thoughtful study requires.

The cost of our programmes reflects the labour of personal tutor feedback and carefully maintained written materials. We do not use automated grading. Every response to your work comes from a person who has read it.

If you are considering whether Inferis is the right fit, write to us. We will give you a straightforward answer about which programme, if any, aligns with where you are now and where you want to get to.
